The Last Food of England
Yeoman, Mendips: Martin Weaver is the last of a dozen small producers in his area. He has twelve acres, one tractor and no help apart from his wife. He buys in seeds and seedlings and rotates the usual vegetables in an open field, which they seem to prefer to a garden. He fills and delivers boxes, and goes to market, competing for price and exceeding the quality of the produce on sale in the big retailers. He learned on the job, makes a living and enjoys a yarn. When he eats out it is in a pub serving 'food he can relate to'.
