The Last Food of England
Mark and Mandy Paul's shop is a former toll house, which started selling home made ices in 1947. One of their specialities is gooseberry, a Victorian favourite containing fresh fruit, which is grown by enthusiasts for competitions in the north. Another popular flavour is blackcurrant. Local bilberries have also been tried. The milk is supplied by a single farm. The UK consumes a huge quantity of ices, but seldom of this quality. 'Dairy' ices must include a dairy product.. 'Vanilla' ices come from a product base. The award system is unfathomable.
