The Last Food of England
Jersey bull in Somerset; an unlikely partner for the mildest mannered and most affectionate type of cow. He has strength in his shoulders, trouble in mind, and a fearless heart. Without the ring and chain he would have a go at you. The dairy bulls are infamously explosive - there is no explanation why. So, you do not see them about much or meet them on a footpath. The beef bulls, the Herefords, North Devons and Sussex are usually more quiet and easily handled. They lumber about the shows like great big puppies, unconscious of their own colossal strength.
