The Last Food of England
Landing the catch in Scarborough: there is not much in the North Sea, hence the absence of boats. The UK is urged to eat more fish, but imported two thirds of its requirements by the millennium, including the cod in seaside restaurants. There is also the matter of who is to fish and where. The British fleet is overburdened with rules, which help to create waste. It is unsupported by the government, and shrinking every year. Fishermen think that Edward Heath, who gave away ancestral waters, should have been indicted for treason.
